Guess who went camping again! It rained a lot more than my husband and I were expecting, but we survived! We set up the tent in the rain and barely got it wet. I tried to make a fire and failed, but I got reaaally close two times. I ended up getting kinda soaked, but I wasn't tooooo uncomfortable.
We also discovered that we stay really dry sitting in the back of the subaru with the hatchback open. What can't my my subie do? I love her!
We did good job setting up camp and din't run into any hitches, but I still got wet. I could have planned better and brought more rainproof clothes... but I didn't. I was really jealous of My husband with his rain pants and waterproof jacket xP
Being inside the tent while rain is pounding on it is suuuchh a nice feeling. I generally get pretty on edge at night (there's spookies out there!) but I was so chilled out. I guess if its wet out, your monkey brain goes "oooh, everyone hunkering down. ooh" and you stop looking out for The Lion.
It dried up in the morning and I made a REAL fire with a pringle's can and some left over burrito wrappings B) I got to dry out all my shit, but I burnt my jean jacket a little. Oh well, battle damage is cool.
We spent the day lounging around the fire and then doing a creek walk. I used a walking stick going down the rivr and then TWO walking sticks coming back. I felt like an agile deer navigating all the wet rocks and rotten wood. I understand why 4-legged animals are so good at crossing shit and climbing things.
